How do I turn the tree on or off for the storefront?
Flip the Use these categories for storefront breadcrumbs switch in Tree editor and click Save. On shows the full trail you arranged; off shows Home › collection. Your tree stays saved either way.
What it is
The switch Use these categories for storefront breadcrumbs decides whether your storefront uses the category tree you've arranged.
On: shoppers see the full trail you built, for example Home › Women › Clothing › Dresses.
Off: shoppers see a simple trail made of Home followed by the collection they're on.
Turning the switch off doesn't delete anything. Your categories stay saved, and you can switch them back on any time.
How to set it up
Open Tree editor.
Find the Use these categories for storefront breadcrumbs switch at the top of the preview pane.
Turn it on or off. The preview underneath shows the trail shoppers will get.
Click Save in the save bar to apply the change to your storefront.
The switch doesn't take effect the moment you flip it. Like every other change in the Tree editor, it waits for you to save, so if you flip it by mistake you can click Discard and nothing changes on your store.
Why it's useful
This switch gives you a safe way to work on your tree without affecting shoppers. You can keep it off while you rearrange categories, then turn it on when the structure is ready. It's also useful if you want a simpler breadcrumb for a while, for example during a store redesign, without losing hours of work on your tree. And because the change only goes live when you save, you can preview both versions and compare them before you decide.
