How do I preview how a result could look?

SEO SchemaUpdated 1 min read

Open a schema type's page in SEO schema. Its preview shows how the data could appear in search, using your store's real data and the details you have entered.

What it is

Each schema type's page in the app includes a preview. It shows how the structured data you're publishing could appear, for example how a breadcrumb path might look in a search result instead of a plain web address, or how product details might be presented. The preview uses your store's real data and the details you've entered, so you can see the effect of your changes before saving.

How to use it

  1. Open SEO schema in the app.

  2. Open the page for the type you're interested in, for example Breadcrumb, Product or Organization.

  3. Look at the preview on the page.

  4. If you're filling in setup details, watch the preview update as you change fields such as your logo or business details.

  5. When you're happy with how it looks, click Save.

  6. To check the real data against Google's own tools, use the Rich Results Test link on the same page.

Keep in mind that a preview shows what's possible. Search engines decide for themselves when and how to show rich results, so actual listings can vary.

Why it's useful

Structured data is invisible on your storefront, which makes it hard to judge whether it's right. The preview makes it visible. You can spot a wrong logo, a missing detail or an odd breadcrumb path before it goes live, instead of finding out weeks later in search results. It also helps you understand what each type actually does, which makes it easier to decide which types are worth switching on for your store. And because it uses your own data, it's far more useful than a generic example.
