How do I fix "Automatic" products?
Click Add to tree on the product's row in Products › Automatic, then drag that collection under the right parent in Tree editor and save. Every product in the collection then gets the full trail.
What it is
A product tagged Automatic belongs to a Shopify collection, but that collection isn't part of your category tree. The app still gives the product a breadcrumb, built from that collection, so shoppers aren't left without one. But the trail can't include the parent categories you arranged in the tree. For example, a product might show Home › Linen shirts instead of Home › Men › Shirts › Linen shirts.
Add to tree fixes this by adding the product's collection to your category tree, so the product gets the full trail.
How to fix it
Open Products and select the Automatic tab.
Find a product and click Add to tree on its row.
The collection is added to your category tree.
Open Tree editor and drag the collection under the right parent so it sits in the right place. For example, drop Linen shirts onto Shirts.
Check its trail in the storefront preview, then click Save.
Back on Products, the product, and any other product in the same collection, now shows as Custom.
Why it's useful
Fixing one collection often fixes many products at once, because every product in that collection benefits. Moving products from Automatic to Custom gives shoppers richer trails that show the broader category, which makes it easier to step back and browse similar items. It also makes your breadcrumbs consistent: products in the same department all share the same path structure, instead of some showing a full trail and others showing a single collection name. Consistent trails look more professional and give search engines a clearer picture of your catalog.
