How do I make breadcrumbs appear on my store?
Add the Breadcrumbs by Shopgears app block to your product, collection and collection list templates in Shopify's theme editor, then click Save. Set up pages on Home opens the editor with the right template ready.
What it is
Breadcrumbs show up on your storefront through an app block called Breadcrumbs by Shopgears. You add it to your theme in Shopify's theme editor, the same way you add any other section or block. Installing the app doesn't put anything on your storefront until you add this block. That gives you full control over which pages show a trail and where it sits on each page.
How to set it up
In the app, go to Home and find the Get set up section.
Click Set up pages. This opens the theme editor with the right page template ready.
Add the Breadcrumbs by Shopgears block to the template, then drag it to where you want the trail. Just above the product title or collection heading works well.
Repeat this for each page type you want covered: product pages, collection pages and the collection list page.
Click Save in the theme editor. The block isn't live until you save.
When you return to the app, the Home checklist marks the step as done once it finds the block on your theme.
Why it's useful
Placing the block yourself means the trail fits your design instead of being forced into a fixed spot. You can put it high on the page so shoppers spot it straight away, or tuck it under the header for a cleaner look. Each page type is set up separately, so you can show breadcrumbs on product pages and leave them off the collection list, for example. Because this is a standard theme app block, it moves with your theme, appears in theme previews, and can be removed or repositioned any time without touching code.
