How do I set up a type that needs details?
Open the type's setup page from SEO schema, fill in the required fields and click Save. A type marked Needs setup is missing details search engines require, such as the address for Local business.
What it is
Most schema types are built entirely from data Shopify already has, such as product titles, prices and collection names. A few need information only you can provide. For example, Local business needs your shop's address, and Organization can use your logo. When a type you've switched on is missing something search engines require, the SEO schema page marks it Needs setup. Each type has its own setup page where you fill in those details.
How to set it up
Open SEO schema in the app.
Find a type marked Needs setup, or any type you want to fine-tune, and open its setup page.
Fill in the fields. Required fields are the ones search engines need. Without them, the item would be ignored. Other fields are recommended and help make the data richer.
Use the image field to upload a logo or image if the type uses one.
Check the preview on the page to see how the data could appear.
Click Save. If a required field is still empty or invalid, the app tells you what's missing instead of publishing broken data.
Types that might need details include Organization, Local business, Product and Article.
Why it's useful
Incomplete structured data is often worse than none: search engines may ignore the whole item if a required property is missing. The setup pages make sure what you publish is complete and valid, and they explain what each field is for. Saving is blocked until required details are filled in, so you can't accidentally publish something search engines will reject. Once set up, the data stays in place and updates with your store, so it's a one-time job for each type.
