How do I build the tree from my store menu?
In Tree editor, click From menu and pick a Shopify navigation menu, usually your main menu. The collections it links become a tree with the same nesting, ready to review and save.
What it is
Most stores already have a navigation menu that groups collections into departments, often the main menu in the header. From menu reads one of your Shopify navigation menus and turns its structure into a category tree. Collections that are nested in the menu become nested in the tree, so you don't have to rebuild an arrangement you've already made.
How to set it up
Open Tree editor.
Click From menu.
Pick the navigation menu you want to use, usually your main menu.
The app builds a tree from the collections linked in that menu, keeping their nesting.
Review the result. Drag items to reorder or re-nest them, and add any collections the menu didn't include.
Select a few collections to check their trails in the storefront preview.
Click Save to publish the tree.
Only menu links that point to collections can become tree entries, because the tree is made of collections. Links to pages, products, blogs or external sites, and plain headings, are left out, but the collections nested under them are kept and moved up to the nearest collection above. For example, a "Shop › Men › T-shirts" menu where "Shop" is only a heading comes out as Men › T-shirts. Duplicate, deleted and unpublished collections are skipped too.
Why it's useful
Your menu already reflects how you want shoppers to browse, so it's the fastest starting point for a tree that matches your store. Building from it keeps the header navigation and the breadcrumb trail consistent. A shopper who clicks Women › Dresses in the menu then sees the same path in the breadcrumb, which builds trust and makes the site easier to learn. Importing takes seconds compared with arranging dozens of collections by hand. Since the tree is a copy, you can still adjust it afterwards without changing the menu itself.
