How do I show a different name in the breadcrumb?
Select the collection in Tree editor, enter a display name and click Save. The trail shows your label, while the collection's title and URL in Shopify stay the same.
What it is
Sometimes a collection's name works well in your admin but not in a breadcrumb. It might be too long, include internal codes, or say something like "Summer Sale 2026 – Dresses" when you only want "Dresses". A display name lets you choose the label shoppers see in the trail for a collection in your tree. The collection itself isn't renamed: its title, URL and everything else in Shopify stay the same.
How to set it up
Open Tree editor.
Find the collection in your tree and select it.
Enter the label you want in its display name field.
Check the storefront preview. The trail now shows your display name.
Click Save to publish the change.
To go back to the collection's own title, clear the display name and save again.
Why it's useful
Short, clear labels make breadcrumbs much easier to scan, especially on phones where space is tight. Display names let you tidy up the trail without touching your collections, so you won't break links, affect SEO on collection pages, or confuse your team's workflow in the Shopify admin. They're also handy when one collection sits under different parents and needs a simpler label in context. For example, a collection called "Men's Running Shoes" can just say "Running" when it already sits under Men › Shoes. The result is a cleaner, more professional trail that reads naturally from left to right.
