How do I check for duplicate schema?
Click Check for duplicates on the SEO schema page. The app reads your home page and one live product, collection, blog and article page, and lists every type published more than once.
What it is
Many Shopify themes, and some other apps, already output some structured data, often Product, Organization or Breadcrumb data. If the app publishes the same type as well, a page can end up with two competing copies. That can confuse search engines about which one to trust. Check for duplicates reads your live storefront pages and reports where the same type appears more than once, so you can decide which source to keep.
How to set it up
Open SEO schema in the app.
Click Check for duplicates.
The app reads a sample of your live pages (your home page plus one live product, collection, blog and article page) and looks at the structured data on them.
If your store is password-protected, enter your storefront password when the app asks.
Review the results. For each duplicate, you'll see which type appears more than once.
Fix each duplicate by turning off that type in the app, or by turning off the duplicate output in your theme or the other app.
Run the check again to confirm the duplicates are gone.
Why it's useful
Duplicate structured data is a common, hidden problem. You can't see it on the page, and it often comes from a theme setting you didn't know existed. Two conflicting Product items, for example, might list different prices or ratings, which can make search engines ignore both. Because the check reads your actual live pages, it catches duplicates from any source: your theme, other apps or custom code. A quick check after turning on new types, or after changing themes or apps, keeps your structured data clean and trustworthy.
