How do I make the visitor path win over my tree?
Turn on Prefer the visitor's path over your collections in Settings › Visitor path and click Save. The switch unlocks once visitor path is on and you have arranged a category tree.
What it is
When both a visitor path and a category-tree trail are available for a page, the app has to choose one. By default, your collections come first: the trail follows your category tree, and the visitor path is used when the tree doesn't give an answer. The Prefer the visitor's path over your collections switch reverses that. Whenever a shopper has a route, their route wins, even if the page also has a place in your tree.
How to set it up
Open Settings and use the theme picker in the header to choose your theme.
Go to the Visitor path section.
Turn on Build breadcrumbs from the visitor's path first. The preference switch stays locked until visitor path is on.
Make sure you've arranged collections in the Tree editor. Until you have a tree, the switch is locked and the app points you to the Tree editor.
Turn on Prefer the visitor's path over your collections.
Click Save in the save bar.
To go back to tree-first trails, turn the switch off and save again.
Why it's useful
Different stores need different priorities. If your tree is carefully arranged and you want every shopper to see the same consistent structure, leave the switch off. If your shoppers mostly browse through campaigns, sale pages or curated lists, turning it on makes the breadcrumb match their actual journey, so the back step always returns them to the page they came from. This switch lets you choose without giving up either source: the tree is still used for shoppers with no route, such as visitors arriving from search engines.
